|CANTON, NY (March 31, 2007) -- The St. Lawrence men's lacrosse team, ranked No. 13 in the country, handed Vassar a tough 18-2 loss Saturday afternoon in a Liberty League contest. The Brewers (1-8, 0-2) will have a quick turnaround, as Vassar hosts Oberlin College on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm at Prentiss Field.|
In the loss, Vassar got a goal from freshman Sean Murray (Wyckoff, NJ/Deerfield Academy), his team-leading tenth with 12 seconds to play in the game. Also in the scoring column was senior Vito Cataldo (West Islip, NY/West Islip), who tallied his ninth of the season with 2:06 to play in the second period. Senior Michael Littlefield (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) had an assist.
St. Lawrence (6-1, 1-0) controlled the game, building a 13-0 lead before Cataldo got Vassar on the board. Four different Saints players had multiple goals, led by Derek Hansen and Brendan Lynch with three each. Kevin Russell assisted on five of his teams 18 goals.
Freshman Ed Pappo (Malvern, PA/Conestoga) was in goal for Vassar and made 15 saves on the afternoon.
