The Game Story:
April 25 ó Rob Russell assisted on three goals to become the fifth player in the history of St. Lawrence Universityís menís lacrosse program to record 100 assists in the Saints 19-4 win over Vassar in an Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association game on Friday night on North Country Field.

Russell, a senior attack from Madison, CT, entered the game with 98 career assists. He assisted on the first goal of the game, finding Tim Loveless for an open shot less than five minutes into the game. His second of the game and 100th of his career came near the end of the first quarter to Chris Hanbury for a 3-0 lead.

Russell added a goal of his own on an off-balance shot just 19 seconds later off a won faceoff, and Peter Dolan gave the Saints a 5-0 lead with 13 seconds to play in the quarter. The Saints cruised for the rest of the game, outshooting the Brewers 39-19.

Russellís four-point evening highlighted the game, with 15 players recording a point for the Saints. Loveless scored three goals, and Dolan added a goal and two assists. Hanbury, Alex Moore, Peter Blake and Evan Robins each scored two goals for St. Lawrence, and Keith Jones scored a goal and added two assists. Mike Palladino, Brian Dunn and Peter Snedeker also recorded multi-point games for St. Lawrence.

Pat McAlpine led the Brewers with two goals.

With the win, St. Lawrence claimed the No. 3 seed in next weekendís UCAA Tournament. The Saints will face either Hamilton or Rensselaer on the road in the semifinal round on Friday, May 2nd.

The Saints improved to 10-2, 4-2 UCAA with the win. Vassar fell to 2-8, 0-5. St. Lawrence wraps up the regular season against Potsdam on Saturday at 2 p.m. on North Country Field.
