(Potomac, Md.) - The Dickinson College men's lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and held off a late run to defeat St. Mary's (Md.)College, 7-6 on Saturday.

The teams met at the Bullis School for the second straight season. The Red Devils took an 2-0 lead in the first quarter behind goals from Chris Dodson (Bethesda, Md./Landon) and Ted Sirvaitis (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich).

Sirvaitis sandwiched a pair of goals around first-year Brandon Palladino's (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) first collegiate goal to put the Devils in front 5-1 at halftime.

Penalties hurt the Devils in the third period as the Seahawks kept Dickinson off the board while scoring a pair of goals to pull within 5-3 at the end of the quarter.

Dodson capitalized on a Seahawk penalty with an extra-man goal at the 8:24 mark, assisted by first-year Matt Cherry (Radnor, Pa./Radnor).

Ryan Alexander scored his third goal of the game to make the score 6-4 Devils with 6:30 remaining in the contest. Sophomore Sam Abramson (Alexandria, Va./Potomac) tallied what would be the eventual game-winner with 3:19 on the clock.

The Seahawks kept battling all the way to the end, adding goals at the 2:10 mark and pulling within one with just 22 seconds on the clock.

The Red Devils would hold on and improve to 2-0 on the season. Sirvaitis led the attack with a hat-trick while Dodson scored twice and Abramson tallied a goal and two assists.

Pallandino controlled four ground balls while senior Chris Breslin (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) picked-up three on the day. Sophomore goaltender Tyler Magann (Easton, Pa./Hill) made 19 saves in the cage.
