| St. Mary's City, Md. -- Freshman attack Billy McCulloch (Annandale,
VA/W.T. Woodson) scored two goals and added an assist in leading the visiting
Lynchburg Hornets to a 7-3 victory over the St. Mary's College Seahawks on
Saturday afternoon at Seahawk Stadium.
The Hornets (1-1) opened the scoring on a goal by senior midfielder Rob Onda
(Sykesville, MD/South Carroll) with the assist going to junior midfielder Paul
Venturella (Millersville, MD/Old Mill). St. Mary's would answer less than one
minute later on a goal by freshman midfielder Ryan McCauley (Crofton,
MD/Arundel) with an assist to sophomore midfielder Brian Kennedy (Arnold,
MD/St. Mary's). the two teams would then trade goals before McCulloch scored
unassisted on an extra man opportunity to give the Hornets a 3-2 lead after one
Lynchburg would take a 5-2 lead at the half on second period goals by McCulloch
and sophomore attack Brandon Childs (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's). The teams held
each other scoreless in the third period, as the rainy weather started to make
an effect on the game.
Lynchburg would push the lead to 7-2 with 11:51 remaining in the contest with
goals by senior midfielder Jon Gilden (Pikesville, MD/Park School) and
sophomore attack Kevin Reinecke (Crofton, MD/Arundel) early in the fourth
period. The Seahawks would add a late goal by freshman attack Kevin Whalen
(Bethesda, MD/Georgetown Prep) with an assist going to senior attack Andrew
Toussaint (Potomac, MD/Georgetown Prep), his second of the contest, to finish
the scoring in the contest.
The Seahawks (1-2) will next be in action on Wednesday, March 6, when they
travel to Virginia Wesleyan College. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00
