The Game Story:
HOBOKEN, N.J. Ė Sophomores Joe Van Sickle (Hampton, N.J./Peddie School) and Alex Richards (Beaverton, Ore./Century) scored three goals apiece to lead 12th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology to an 8-6 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference menís lacrosse game at DeBaun Field.

Stevens (4-2), ranked 12th in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III poll, never trailed in the game. Van Sickle scored the only goal of the first quarter when he finished off a pass from sophomore Mark Bielicky with 6:39 left to give the Ducks the lead.

Richard and freshman attack John Dolny (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) scored early in the second quarter to increase the Stevens lead to 3-0. Juniors Adam LoGiudice and Peter Rice scored second-quarter goals as Rensselaer trimmed the Stevens lead to 4-2 at halftime.

Richards and freshman J.R. Oreskovich (La Costa, Calif./La Costa Canyone) added fourth-quarter goals as Stevens extended its lead to 8-4. Freshman Mike Sampson and junior Chris Sherman scored goals for Rensselaer in the final two minutes as the Red Hawks closed to within 8-6.

Stevens held a 34-27 advantage in shots and won 12 of 17 faceoffs. Rensselaer received 13 saves from sophomore goalie Ryan Michels. Sophomore Jack Dunderdale (Ridgefield, Conn./Immaculate) stopped eight shots for the Ducks.

Senior Ryan Frisch led Rensselaer with two goals.

Stevens is back in action on Saturday, March 26, when it hosts Eastern Connecticut at 1p.m. at DeBaun Field. Rensselaer returns to action on Wednesday, March 30, when it hosts Ithaca at 4 p.m.
