Elmira, NY -- The EC Men’s Lacrosse team squared off against the Crusaders of Susquehanna University Sunday afternoon at Elmira Free Academy field for a non-conference contest.

Elmira College tallied the opening score of the game in the first period during the first minute of play. Scoring for the Soaring Eagles was Tyler Campbell ’13 (Mississauga, ONT -- Gordon Graydon). Susquehanna quickly responded to notch two goals to end the period up 2-to-1. However, EC was able to take control in the second period tallying four straight goals to take a 5-to-2 advantage into the halftime break.

Despite the Purple and Gold scoring the first goal of the third period, Susquehanna was able to battle back into the contest with four unanswered goals. The run brought the Crusaders back to within one goal as play entered the final period. In the fourth session, the teams exchanged goals throughout with Elmira College keeping their slight advantage. A late goal by Kenny Keirstead ’11 (Waltham, MA -- Winchendon) gave EC their tenth goal of the game with an assist from David Evert ’14 (Niagara Falls, NY -- Niagara Falls). This would prove to be enough despite a valiant effort by Susquehanna to tie the game before the end of regulation.

Keirstead, Correia, and Rick Acorn ’12 (Barrie, ONT -- Innisdale) all tallied two scores for Elmira College in the game.

Dave Bucchino ’13 (Cedar Grove, NJ -- Bow) was stellar in net yet again with 14 saves for Elmira.

EC looks to continue their winning ways next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. as the team hosts Hartwick College for an Empire 8 Conference contest.
