Susquehanna vs. Scranton
March 15, 2008
The Game Story:
SELINSGROVE, Pa.. The game was close through the first half, but a five-goal scoring barrage in the third period felled the Susquehanna University men's lacrosse team, as the University of Scranton went on to a 10-6 Landmark Conference opener win Saturday.

Scranton scored the first three goals of the game before Susquehanna's Greg Norris (St. Catharines, ON/Denis Morris) took a pass from Ryan Walters (Easton, PA/Easton) at 11:47 in the second period. The Royals went up 4-1 a minute later, but Greg Burns (Charlotte, N.C./South Mecklenburg) and Sam Jayne (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) each scored an unassisted goal - Jayne's coming with the Crusaders a man down - to keep Susquehanna within one at the half.

The teams traded goals to open the second half, with Scranton scoring first and Colin Fadrowski (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) answering. The Royals then scored five unanswered goals, three from Thomas Kornobis, to take a 10-4 lead early in the fourth period.

Fred Morse (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford-Sutherland) added two more Crusaders goals, the second on an assist by Henry Weismantel (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), but the Royal defense prevailed for the win.

The Crusaders were just 4-of-20 on faceoffs, with Sean Belt (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) successfully taking 3-of-6. Norris and Fadrowski led the team with four ground balls apiece.

Kirk Ryan (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) played all 60 minutes in net, making 23 saves.
