| SELINSGROVE, Pa.-Junior midfielder William Ayers (Croton on Hudson, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) scored four goals to lead The University of Scranton men's lacrosse
team to an 11-4 victory over Susquehanna University in the Middle Atlantic Conference opener for both teams Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore attacker Dennis Mahon (Medford, N.J./St. Joseph's Prep) had three goals and four assists and Kyle Harbin (Wixom, Mich./Novi) and Andrew Palumbo (Westfield, N.J./St. Joseph's Metuchen) chipped in two goals apiece as the Royals evened their overall record at 2-2 and improved to 1-0 in the MAC. Andy Nadler led Susquehanna, now 1-2 overall and 0-1 in league play, with three goals. Mahon scored two goals and Ayers and Palumbo added one each as Scranton jumped out to a 4-1 lead by intermission. The Royals, who out-shot the Crusaders 40-21, scored five times in the third period to put the game out of reach. Sophomore goalie Thomas Kenyon (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) made eight save for Scranton, while Susquehanna's Chad Denlinger had a match-high 22. The Royals will play their fifth straight road game this Wednesday, March 20, against Lycoming College in Middle Atlantic Conference action in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, beginning at 3:30 p.m. |
