The Game Story:
SELINSGROVE, PA - Sophomore Scott Hodgson scored the final two goals of the game to break a 7-7 tie as the Susquehanna University men?s lacrosse team defeated Shenandoah 9-7 at the Admissions Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Hodgson (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo H.S.) drilled the game-winning goal with 2:50 left in the contest to put the Crusaders (1-1) in front and tallied again with 1:23 left to seal the victory. He also dished out four assists to lead the squad with six points.

The teams played a well-matched first half, as they were tied at 1-1 after one quarter and 3-3 at halftime. Shenandoah then scored at 10:20 and 6:12 of the third quarter to take a 5-3 lead before Susquehanna stormed back with goals by junior Andy Nadler (Westport,CT/ Staples H.S.) and sophomore Hale Abramson (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Indian Hills H.S.) to tie the contest at 5-5 entering the fourth quarter.

Shenandoah took leads of 6-5 and 7-6 in the fourth, but the Crusaders recovered both times, tying the game at 7-7 on a goal by sophomore Mark Harrison (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett H.S.). With his two goals, Hodgson increased his career total to 18 goals in 13 career games played, and he also has totaled 28 points over that span.

Freshman Dan St. Ours (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) scored twice and added two assists for the Crusaders, while Abramson and Nadler also assisted on the final two goals.

In goal for the Crusaders, sophomore Chad Denlinger (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor H.S.) made 18 saves, while Dave Behan made 15 saves for the Hornets.

Susquehanna won the battle of ground balls 46-40 over Shenandoah, while the Hornets held a slight advantage in shots, 42-36. The teams split 20 face-offs, while Shenandoah failed on 14 of 28 clear attempts.
