Swarthmore vs. Franklin And Marshall

The Game Story:
The Garnet Tide fell to No. 9 Franklin & Marshall 13-3 on Clothier Field. Swarthmore drops to 7-5 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial.

Swarthmore battled the Diplomats for 30 minutes as they trailed 3-1 at intermission but Franklin & Marshall outscored them 10-2 in the second half for the victory.

Bas Solleveld and Carter Gray scored 39 seconds apart to give the Dips a 2-0 first quarter lead. Bryan Nolan added a man-up goal just 12 seconds into the second to make it 3-0. Joe DeSimone countered with a man-advantage goal at 6:46 to get the Garnet Tide on the board.

F&M broke the game open in the third quarter when they scored three goals in a span of 1:04. Beau Smith scored at 11:02, Solleveld added his second of the day at 10:12 and Colin Hanley scored 14 seconds later to up the lead to 6-1. Vandy Vanderwarker scored with 3:12 remaining to give the Dips a 7-1 advantage. John Murphy scored one minute later to get the Tide to within five. Chris Wathey hit the back of the net with 1:56 remaining to close out the quarters scoring.

Matthew Perez scored his first career goal for the Tide at 12:11 to get to within 9-3. The Dips added four more goals to make the final 13-3.

Ryan Croken recorded 13 saves in goal for the Garnet and Mike Sartorius stopped nine shots for the Dips.

Swarthmore travels to No. 5 Washington College for a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference contest.
