| Joe Ellis scored five goals to lead 16th ranked McDaniel (7-0, 3-0 CC) to an 11-6 Centennial Conference victory over Swarthmore (4-4, 1-2 CC) on Clothier Field.
Ellis and Peter Schaffer each scored twice to stake McDaniel to a 4-0 lead at the 12:30 mark of the second quarter. Pat Friel scored a man up goal from a Tim Chryssikos assist at 11:26 to get the Garnet Tide into the game. Joe DeSimone cut the lead in half scoring a man advantage goal on a Chryssikos assist with 5:10 remaining in the half. Eric Williston scored with 1:25 on the clock to give the Green Terror a 5-2 advantage at the half. A Rob Weaver goal 1:20 into the third made it 6-2. DeSimone countered just 56 seconds later to cut the lead in half and a Than Court goal got the Garnet to within two goals with 10:52 remaining in the third. That was as close as the Tide could get as Ellis scored two consecutive goals to give the Terror an 8-4 lead. John Murphy scored with 24 seconds left in the quarter to cut the lead to 8-5. Jeremy Freed scored a man up goal on an Ellis assist just 51 seconds into the fourth. Court picked up his second of the game with 12:50 remaining but Ellis answered with a goal at 11:52 to give the Terror a 10-6 lead. Schaffer closed out the scoring with his third of the game with 8:19 left on the clock. Ryan Croken recorded 12 saves for the Garnet while Mike Korba made nine saves for McDaniel. Wednesday, the Garnet travel to Elizabethtown for a 3:30 non-conference contest. |
