The Game Story:
Hartford, Conn. Ė Sophomore midfielder Zac Trudeau (Norwell, Mass.) scored two goals and assisted on a third, all in the third quarter, to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 9-4 victory over the visiting Colby College White Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) menís lacrosse action this afternoon at Jessee/Miller Field. Trinity, playing in its NESCAC opener, improves to 3-1 overall, while the White Mules drop to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the league with their second loss in a row.

After a scoreless first half, the squads erupted for eight goals in the third quarter, including scores by Trudeau, freshman middie Ray Mooney (Wellesley, Mass.), and freshman defenseman Colin Murphy (Wellesley, Mass.) during a 25-second span to give the Bantams a 3-0 lead 1:42 into the second half. Colby freshman attackman Whit McCarthy (Darien, Conn.) netted the first of his two goals at the 11:20 mark of the third quarter to break the scoring drought for the White Mules.

Colby scored two of the next three goals, pulling within one at 4-3 on a tally by junior middie Drew Piekarski (East Sandwich, Mass.) with 3:22 left in the third. Bantam senior midfielder Patrick Gibbons (Garden City, N.Y.) scored from junior attackman Kris Tedeschi (Norwell, Mass.) just 46 seconds later to make the score, 5-3, with one quarter left to play. The Bantams outscored Colby, 4-1, in the final frame, including two goals by senior captain attackman Curtis Kahn (Cohasset, Mass.).

Mooney and senior midfielder Chris Walsh (Newton, Mass.) each finished with a goal and an assist, while sophomore attackman Adam Cox (Garden City, N.Y.) added a pair of assists for the Bantams. Trinity sophomore goalie Alex Palma (Chappaqua, N.Y.) made nine saves and sophomore Alex Farmer (Madison, Conn.) totaled 12 saves for Colby. White Mule sophomore Caddy Brooks (Darien, Conn.) recorded a goal and an assist.
