Ė Junior attackman Kris Tedeschi (Norwell, Mass.) had three goals and one assist including the game winner in the second overtime to give the Trinity College Bantams an 11-10 victory over the visiting Middlebury College Panthers in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) menís lacrosse action this afternoon at Jessee/Miller Field. Trinity improves to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the NESCAC with their second straight win, while the Panthers, ranked No. 7 in the North region and No. 13 in the nation, drop to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in NESCAC play.|
The teams traded goals throughout the game, staying within one goal of each other for all but two short stints in the first half. Middlebury led, 3-1, early in the first quarter and, 6-4, with five minutes remaining in the first half. Trinityís only lead of regulation came a minute into the second quarter at 4-3 on a goal by sophomore middie Zac Trudeau (Norwell, Mass.).
Middlebury went ahead, 10-9, with 6:03 left in the fourth quarter when freshman attackman Peter Smith (Wilton, Conn.) fed sophomore attackman Skyler Hopkins (Easton, Md.) for his second goal of the game. The Bantams tied it at the 4:50 mark on senior captain Curtis Kahnís (Cohasset, Mass.) third goal of the second half, on an assist by Tedeschi, but both defenses held the game scoreless for the rest of regulation and through 7:01 of overtime play.
Trinity senior midfielder Patrick Gibbons (Garden City, N.Y.) and Trudeau both had two goals for Trinity. Middlebury senior co-captain Nick Bastis (Greenwich, Conn.) and sophomore attacker Tom Petty (Newburyport, Mass.) joined Hopkins with two goals for Middlebury. Trinity sophomore goalkeeper Alex Palma (Chappaqua, N.Y) had 15 saves and Panther senior goalie Alex Palmisano (Southport, Conn.) had 11 stops.
