SCHENECTADY, N.Y Ė The 19th-ranked Union College menís lacrosse team scored 10 first-half goals en route to a 14-5 Liberty League lacrosse victory over visiting Vassar College Wednesday evening at Frank Bailey Field. Harry Fackelmayer (Greenwich, Conn.) netted his first career multiple-goal game to lead three Union players with two-goal performances, as the Dutchmen recorded their ninth win of the season for the first time since a program-best 10 wins in 1991.

Senior captains Jon Miller (Yarmouth, Maine) and Chris Collison (Trumbull, Conn.) posted a pair of goals each for the Dutchmen, while Tristan Jemiolo led Vassar (3-10, 0-5 Liberty) with a pair of scores.

Union (9-2, 3-1 Liberty) jumped out to a six-goal lead after the first quarter, and held a 10-0 lead at the half. Collison opened the scoring nine seconds into the game before Miller, freshman Brendan Kinnane (Little Compton, R.I.) and Matt Douglas (New York, N.Y.) scored less than three minutes apart. Pye Russell (Acton, Mass.) and Fackelmayer closed out the first quarter with their first league goals of the season.

Charles Hovsepian (Hingham, Mass.) opened the scoring in the second quarter before Collison picked up his second man-up tally of the year from Scott Garibaldi (Summit, N.J.). Chip Miller (Rye, N.Y) gave Union a nine-goal cushion before Jon Miller closed out the first half with his team-leading 19th goal of the season.

The Brewers got on the board first in the second half, when Jemiolo converted a quick feed from Nick Cardillo to beat Union replacement netminder Rahde Franke (Harwood, Md.) just 45 seconds into the third quarter.

The Dutchmen added goals from Jake Grabowski (Summit, N.J.), Fackelmayer and Doug Richardson (Lynnfield, Mass.) before Jemiolo opened the fourth quarter with his second score of the night.

Union senior Gordon Burdis (Salt Point, N.Y.) registered his fifth goal of the season from Andrew Higgins (Wrentham, Mass.) with 6:55 left to play before the Brewers went on a four-goal run to close out the game.

Cody Scandore and Sean Murray scored less than a minute apart before Cardillo picked up an unassisted tally with 42 seconds left in the game.

Union netminder Christopher Keinath (Wilbraham, Mass.) earned his eighth win of the season in the first quarter. Franke made four saves in 28:43 before giving way to Dhimitri Nikolla (Tuxedo Park, N.Y.), who made two saves in the final 16:17. Ed Pappo made six saves in the first half for the Brewers, while Alex Tice stopped four in the final 30 minutes.

The Dutchmen travel to #12 St. Lawrence (7-2, 4-0 Liberty) on Saturday, April 19, for a noon Liberty League game. Vassar hosts Neumann Saturday at 2 p.m.
