The Game Story:
BIDDEFORD, Maine -- In The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's lacrosse action, attack Peter Smyth '08 (Bradford, Mass.) scored four of his game-high six goals in the final 18:22 to lead the Nichols College Bison to their first win of the season, a 17-11 decision at the University of New England on Saturday afternoon.

Nichols led 11-9 at the half, but UNE would score the first three goals of the third period to assume a 12-11 advantage. From there Smyth took over, scoring the final two goals of the third and the opening tally of the fourth to give the visitors a 14-12 cushion. He would add another in the final minute, as Nichols outscored UNE 6-1 in the fourth frame.

Smyth's six goals pushed him over the 100-point plateau for his career. Ryan Pacific '11 (Danbury, Conn.) finished with two goals and three assists for Nichols, while Marc Colangelo '08 (Billerica, Mass.) added two goals and a pair of set-ups. Lucas Wilson '08 (Falmouth, Mass.) and Chris Wilkerson '11 (Danbury, Conn.) chipped in with two scores apiece. The Bison (1-14, 1-8 TCCC) also got a strong performance from Sean Tarrant '10 (Norwalk, Conn.), who was 10-for-16 on the face-off and scooped up nine ground balls.

Jon Ebert '08 (Auburn, N.H.) scored three goals in his final game for UNE (4-12, 0-9). Luke DiFiore '11 (Gloucester, Mass.) contributed two goals and three assists, and Dan Leyden '09 (Northfield, Mass.) scored twice and set up two others. Mike Sagaert '10 (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was credited with a career-high 13 ground balls, while Bobby Labbe '09 (Lewiston, Maine) had nine to go with a pair of goals.

Winning goalie Austin Healy '11 (Westford, Mass.) registered 13 saves. Andy Briggs '09 (Scituate, R.I.) blocked 14 shots for the home team.
