| BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Western New England College men’s lacrosse team had little trouble against host University of New England posting a 19-4 victory in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game Tuesday afternoon (April 1). WNEC, ranked 14th in the USILA Division III poll, remains unbeaten in the conference with a 4-0 mark and 5-2 overall ledger. Sophomore Tim Santye (Skillman, NJ) led the Golden Bears with four goals and an assist. Freshman Mike Santare (South Salem, NY) contributed three goals. WNEC’s defense held the Nor’easters to only a single goal in each quarter. Sophomore Bill Greider (South Windsor, CT) won 13-of-17 face-offs while senior Jedd Brown (Kennebunk, ME) had eight grounds in only his third contest since returning from an injury. Freshman goalie Ben Barlow (Newport, RI) played the first three periods and compiled 11 saves in gaining his first collegiate victory. Classmate Jake Katz (Somersworth, NH) made his collegiate debut and stopped two shots in the final stanza. The University of New England drops to 0-4 overall with a 2-7 conference mark. |
