The Game Story:
PORTLAND, Maine -- Senior attack Dan Leyden (Northfield, Mass.) totaled six points -- including the 100th of his career -- to lead the University of New England to a 23-1 victory over Anna Maria College in men's lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

It was all UNE from the outset, as the Nor'easters scored six times in the first period and eight goals in the second to establish a commanding 14-0 cushion at the break. The hosts tallied nine more times in the third quarter to hit their highest goal output in more than 10 seasons.

Leyden finished with four goals and two assists, with his 100th point coming on a man-up goal at 10:07 of the second frame.

The Nor'easters received three goals apiece from senior Bobby Labbe (Lewiston, Maine) and sophomore Luke DiFiore (Gloucester, Mass.). Labbe and Joe McCarthy (Billercia, Mass.) each collected six ground balls.

UNE held a sizeable margin in shots (45-7) and ground balls (64-29). The Nor'easters converted all three of their man-up opportunities, were 13 of 15 on clear chances, and 20 of 28 on face-offs.

First-year middie Mike Saulnier (Wrentham, Mass.) had a goal and six ground balls for Anna Maria. Classmate Brad Peterson (North Kingstown, R.I.) was credited with a game-high 11 ground balls.

The Nor'easters (1-1) return to action Thursday when they head to Lasell College for a 3:00 p.m. contest. Anna Maria (0-3) is right back at it tomorrow with a road game at Assumption College (7:00 p.m.).
