The Game Story:
The US Merchant Marine Academy?s men?s lacrosse team opened up the 2003 season with a 13-10 victory over Centenary College Wednesday night. Senior attacker Ross Cutler (Vienna, VA) led the Mariners (1-0) with seven goals.

Centenary (0-1) struck first on a goal by sophomore attacker Kevin Parks (Easton, MD) on a feed from junior midfielder Chris Robbins (West Chester, PA) with 7:20 left in the first period. Senior midfielder Jim Krantz (Downingtown, PA) provided the tying goal for the Blue and Gray at 1:49. Kings Point took their first lead of the game when Ross Cutler scored on a feed from Krantz at 13:15 in the second period with a man-advantage. Junior attacker Matt Savarino (Flemington, NJ) scored 10 seconds later to tie the game at 2-2. The Mariners then went on a scoring spree, tallying five goals in six minutes to take a 7-4 lead at halftime.

Jim Krantz finished with four goals and four assists for a game-high eight points. Senior attacker Nick Watts (Safety Harbor, FL) tallied one goal and one assist, sophomore attacker Matt McCarthy (Germantown, MD) scored one goal, and sophomore midfielder Dan Gately dished out one assist. Sophomore goalie Walter Keane (Baltimore, MD) collected 10 saves on 14 shots by the Cyclones.
