The Game Story:
The Bombers of Ithaca College rattled off nine unanswered first-half goals en route to capturing a 14-4 Empire 8 conference win over the Pioneers of Utica College on Saturday afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.

The Pioneers, who struggled to get started early, outshot Ithaca by a 50-43 margin for the contest, but placed only 16 of those attempts on goal.

Scoring a goal each for Utica was senior Pete Masterpole (Bishop Ludden/Syracuse), senior Matt Donaldson (General Brown/Dexter), junior Mike Pesner (Nyack/Val Cottage), and sophomore Ryan McGowan (Northport/Northport). Sophomore Pat Konvicka (Cazenovia/Manlius) was credited with an assist.

Junior Blake Bernard (Whitesboro/Marcy) was 11-for-21 on face-offs for the Pioneers on the day.

Junior Shawn Ryan (Webster/Webster) started in goal, allowing nine goals and securing eight saves over 30 minutes, while freshman Paul Phelan (Liverpool/Liverpool) minded the UC net for the game’s final 30 minutes, giving up five goals while collecting three saves.
