The Game Story:
STEVENSON, MD (March 26, 2002)-Hampden-Sydney junior attack Chris Lucas (Fairfax Station, VA) scored six goals to go along with two assists to lead the ninth-ranked Hampden-Sydney lacrosse team to a 17-4 victory over Villa Julie College Tuesday afternoon. The win, the Tigers? sixth in a row, moves Hampden-Sydney to 6-1 on the year, while the Mustangs fall to 3-4.

Lucas scored the Tigers? first three goals and helped guide the team to a commanding 10-2 lead at the break. A 5-0 third quarter put the game on ice for the Tigers? as Lucas scored his sixth goal of the game to start the second half and then assisted on Matt Fassnacht?s (Fairfax, VA) only goal of the game a few minutes later.

Senior attack John Neal (Richmond, VA) had a solid day, picking up a goal and season-best three assists for the Tigers, while junior midfielder Jason Rostan (Farmville, VA) scored three goals. Junior midfielder Phil Dick (Salem, VA) was the only other Tiger with more than one goal as he finished with two strikes on the day, while Martin Schmidt (Guilford, NC), Roger Dael (Bel Air, MD), Tom DiVincenzo (Vienna, VA) and Ben Dammeyer (Annapolis, MD) also contributed to the scoring total for Hampden-Sydney.

Tiger sophomore goalie Jeremy Bull (Raleigh, NC) picked up two saves in the net, while Alexander Ayers (Richmond, VA) and Peter Ellington (Lexington, VA) also combined to limit Villa Julie to just four goals. Overall, the Tigers out-shot Villa Julie, 46-23, and held a 14-13 advantage on faceoffs.

Hampden-Sydney returns to action on Saturday, March 30, as the team hosts ODAC-foe Roanoke College at 1 pm at Hundley Stadium. It will be the first ODAC contest of the season for Hampden-Sydney, the defending ODAC Champions.
