| Arlington, VA - The #10 Villa Julie College Men's Lacrosse Team got back to winning ways with a comfortable 14-3 victory over the Marymount University Saints. The #10 Mustangs looked to be suffering from their weekend exertions against Salisbury as the Saints grabbed an early lead only 24 seconds into the opening period. #10 Villa Julie, second in the CAC, responded nearly five minutes later through a Kevin Donnelly (Laurel, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) goal. Two more goals from Chris Baldwin (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) and Greg Furshman (Miami, FL/Towson) secured a 3-1 lead for the Mustangs at the end of the 1st quarter. The second period was a close encounter with both teams hitting the cage twice. Both Villa goals where scored by Furshman to complete his hat-trick and keep the Mustangs two goals ahead at the half. The second half was a different story as the Mustangs hit top gear and slammed in 9 unanswered goals to send them home with the victory. The Mustang defense was on top form as they shut-down the Saints offense. Chris Baldwin started the rout before Nic Bevacqua (Booton Township, NJ/Mt. Lakes) hit a hat-trick, followed by Donnelly's second, and further goals were added by Kenny Whittaker (Baltimore, MD/Curley), Richie Ford (Baltimore, MD/Towson), Ryan Bragg (Downington, PA/Downingtown West) and Shane Clift (Westminster, MD/North Carroll). Greg Furshman and Nic Bevacqua both scored 3 goals, followed by Chris Baldwin and Kevin Donnelly with 2 each. In goal, Eric Fleegle (Easton, MD/St. Peter & Paul) recorded the win with 16 saves. Villa Julie remains in second place in the CAC with a conference mark of 5-1 and 9-3 overall. The #10 Mustangs will travel to Hood College on Friday for their final regular season CAC game. |
