The Game Story:
Owings Mills, MD- The Mustangs lose in a hard fought match-up in the semi-finals of the Capital Athletic Conference against the Seahawks of St. Mary's College.

St. Mary's scored first with a quick goal, but that proved to be their only goal of the quarter as the Mustangs went on a 3-0 run. VJC evened the score 1-1 with a goal by Kevin Donnelly (Laurel, MD / St. Vincent Pallotti HS / Greensboro) less than three minutes into the quarter. Senior Andrew White (Cockeysville, MD / Loyola HS) gave the Mustangs their first lead of the game with a goal, assisted by senior Nicholas Mueller (Timonium, MD / St. Paul's School). Dustin Harlowe (Golden Beach, MD/ St. Mary's Ryken HS) ended the quarter with an unassisted goal to put the Mustangs up 3-1.

The Seahawks answered the Mustangs run with two goals in the second half to tie the score 3-3 with just under six minutes remaining in the half. Senior Books Beaty (Pasadena, MD / Northeast HS) broke the tie with a shot into the net assisted by sophomore Greg Furshman (Miami, FL / Towson University) to end the half Mustangs up 4-3.

To start the half, the Seahawks evened the score 4-4, but four seconds later the Mustangs recaptured the lead with a goal by Greg Furshman. Before the end of the quarter St. Mary's evened the score again, this time at 5-5.

With the game all knotted up, the Mustangs took the field in an effort to stop the Seahawks in their offensive sets. However, St. Mary's scored to give them their first lead of the game with over 11 minutes remaining in the contest. VJC answered with two goals by senior Matthew Healy (Harrisburg, PA / Harrisburg HS / Essex CC) and Kevin Donnelly to give the Mustangs the lead 7-6. St. Mary's came up with big plays at the end of the quarter with two goals and a huge steal to win the CAC semi-finals contest 8-7. With the loss, the Mustangs fall to 10-4 (7-2).

Defensively, Brooks Beaty led the Mustangs in causing four Seahawk turnovers. Chris Baldwin (Baltimore, MD / Calvert Hall HS / USNA), Michael Simon (Fallston, MD / Fallston HS), Zach Clark (Pasadena, MD / Chesapeake HS), and Austin Hale (Baltimore, MD / Eastern HS) each caused three turnovers.

The Mustangs are back in action on Thursday, April 26 at home to face Neumann College at 4:00 p.m.
