| VIRGINIA BEACH -- Curran Lee (Calgary, Alberta/Delta West) fired the ball into the net with 3:01 remaining in overtime Saturday to lift the Virginia Wesleyan College men's lacrosse Marlins to a thrilling 14-13 victory over the Spartans of Pennsylvania's York College on Foster Field at the Trinder Center. Lee, who scored four goals, tallied the game-winner of a precise pass from junior Nick Northern (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) through a crowd of York defenders. York (0-2) used a 10-5 scoring advantage over the middle two quarters to take a 12-10 lead into the intense final quarter. After the teams traded goals in the first minute of the quarter, the Marlins began to take control. Rookie Jake Maas (Downingtown, Pa./East) cut the Spartans' lead to a goal when he scored unassisted with 7:34 remaining to be played. Lee tied the game a little more than a minute later on another unassisted goal, and the teams battled evenly to the end of regulation. Lee's game-winner in OT improved VWC's early season start to 2-0 for the first time since the 2003 season. While Lee led the goal-scoring for the Marlins, sophomore Travis Puls (Ellicott City, Md./Baltimore Mt. St. Joseph) added three goals and sophomore Adam Nycz (East Aurora, N.Y./Iroquois) added two.
