|Newport News, VA –Jesse Habich was outstanding in net, anchoring a solid defensive effort that led Marywood University to a 7-4 win over Virginia Wesleyan College in a non-conference men’s lacrosse game played at Christopher Newport University on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Pacers improve to 2-0 on the young season while the Marlins fall to 2-2.|
Just two years removed from a runner-up finish in the highly-competitive Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament, Virginia Wesleyan gave Marywood a formidable early-season test. Anchored by Habich’s (Broomall, PA) tremendous play in between the Pacers’ pipe, Marywood was able to limit the Marlins to just four goals in the victory.
Sophomore Joe LaBella and freshman Gregory Nester scored two goals apiece to lead the Pacers’ attack. Juniors Will Roerden (Warwick, NY), Brian Roerden (Warwick, NY), and Nick Parks (Emmaus, PA) also scored for Marywood.
Marywood returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they visit Muhlenberg College in non-conference action. The opening face-off between Pacers and Mules is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Allentown.
A complete recap and box score from Wednesday's game will be available on Thursday.
