The Game Story:
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- It was a night for the newest members of the Virginia Wesleyan College men's lacrosse team to step forward and show what they could do Saturday and they did not disappoint.

Rookies Adam Nycz (East Aurora, N.Y./Iroquois) and Alex Poteet (Whiteford, Md./North Harford) scored four goals each and rookies Gabe Brumett (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) and Chance DeGroff (Fallbrook, Calif./Fallbrook Union) recorded three and two assists respectively, to help guide the host Marlins to a 21-1 victory over Randolph College's first-year team on Forster Field at the Trinder Center.

Nine Marlins scored at least one goal as Virginia Wesleyan took control early and never looked back. VWC led 7-0 after the first quarter, 10-0 at halftime, and 16-1 entering the fourth quarter.

Senior Drew Langis (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) and sophomore Curran Lee (Calgary, Alberta/Delta West) scored three goals each for the Marlins and juniors Tim Homa (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) and Jed Lynch (Salem, Va./Salem) scored two goals each. Rookies Kyle Wright (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads), Brock Waddell (Windsor, Colo./Fossil Ridge), and DeGroff added a goal each.

The Marlins (3-5) won 20-of-25 face-offs, led by Wright with six wins and junior Eric Anderson (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) with five each. Sophomore Cory Brown (Spring Valley, Calif./Monte Vista) added four.

Rookie goalie Kevin McCraken recorded 25 saves for the WildCats (0-5). VWC used junior John-Paul Novak (Centerville, Va./Westfield) and rookies Joe Malazita (Earlysville, Va./Covenant) and Quinn Magner (Chevy Chase, Md./Blue Ridge, Va.) in front of the goal. The trio combined for four saves.

Virginia Wesleyan returns to competition on Wednesday, March 25, hosting Hampton Roads rival Christopher Newport University at 7 p.m.
