| CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The fifth-ranked Washington College men's lacrosse team
posted its eighth straight win this afternoon, defeating visiting
Muhlenberg, 17-4, in a Centennial Conference game at Kibler Field. The
Shoremen (8-2 overall, 6-0 Centennial) got a career-high seven goals, along
with one assist, from senior attackman Chris Edwards (Baltimore, MD/Boys'
Latin). Washington led 10-1 at the half and 17-1 after three quarters of
play.
Edwards scored five of his goals in the first half and the other two early in the third quarter before resting for most of the second half. Junior midfielder Steve Berger (Jessup, MD/Mt. St. Joseph) added two goals and two assists in the win, while sophomore attackman Jon Spivey (Timonium, MD/Dulaney) tallied two goals and one assist. Senior midfielder Craig Early (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) fired in two goals. In all, eight different players scored at least one goal for WC and eight different Shoremen had at least one assist. James Robinson's two goals led Muhlenberg (4-7, 0-7). The Shoremen outshot the Mules, 46-17, won the ground ball battle, 39-12, and won 17-of-24 faceoffs. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday when they host Swarthmore in a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game. |
