The Game Story:
LEXINGTON, Va. – Junior midfielder Harry St. John (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) tallied five goals and one assist to help lead Washington and Lee to a 15-8 victory over Hampden-Sydney in ODAC men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at the W&L Turf Field.

Hampden-Sydney (6-6, 2-2) led 3-2 with 5:56 left in the first quarter, but the Generals went on to score six of the game’s next seven goals, including two from St. John and two more from sophomore midfielder Logan Bartlett (Summit, N.J./Pingry School), for an 8-4 lead with 3:01 left in the second quarter.

H-SC sophomore midfielder Kyle Jett (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond Suffolk) sandwiched a pair of scores around a single W&L tally to make it a 9-6 game with 11:09 remaining in the third period. However, the Generals (8-4, 4-1) scored the game’s next five goals, including two scores from senior attackman Will Englehart (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney), to stretch to a 14-6 lead en route to the seven-goal victory.

Bartlett aided St. John’s effort with three goals and one assist, while junior midfielder Tim Skeen (Baltimore, Md./Towson) logged two goals and two assists. Englehart and junior midfielder Seth Fishman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Haverford) chipped in two goals each. Junior Connor Locke (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes) played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded seven saves.

Jett paced the Hampden-Sydney offense with four goals, while junior attackman Andrew Mahoney (Littleton, Colo./Littleton) registered three goals and one assist. Senior Phil Hage (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) played the duration in goal and logged 14 saves.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Guilford for a 6:00 pm contest.
