| LEXINGTON, Va. ¯ Senior attackman Mike McNamara (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola)
tallied two goals and three assists in leading 14th-ranked Washington and Lee
past 19th-ranked Roanoke, 12-9, in ODAC men's lacrosse action on Saturday
afternoon at Wilson Field.
The Generals (7-3, 3-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and carried an 8-5 lead into the halftime break. W&L controlled the third period, outscoring the Maroons 3-0 in the quarter and assuming an 11-5 lead heading into the final stanza. The Maroons scored four goals around a single W&L tally in the final period, but could get no closer than the three-goal final margin. Senior midfielder Dustin Martin (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) notched two goals and two assists, while junior attackman Gavin Molinelli (Northport, N.Y./Northport) recorded one goal and two assists. Senior midfielder Mark McLewee (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) and junior attackman Jack Murray (Earlysville, Va./Albemarle) each added two goals for W&L. Senior Ansel Sanders (White Stone, Va./Woodberry Forest) posted 14 saves in goal. Roanoke was led by senior midfielder Garrett Yaralian (Fripp Island, S.C./Mountain Lakes), who tallied four goals and one assist. Freshman attackman Jon Mason (Orangeville, Ont./Orangeville) posted three goals and sophomore midfielder Chris Keating (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) contributed one goal and two assists. Sophomore Matt Madalon (Darien, Conn./Darien) stopped 11 shots in goal. Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts VMI in the Lee-Jackson Lacrosse Classic. The game will be played on the W&L Turf Field at 7:30 pm. |
