The Game Story:
BOSTON , Massachusetts Junior attacker Russ Peterson (Bennington, Vt.) scored four goals and an assist and senior attacker Mike Wood (Wilton, Conn.) scored three times and assisted on three others to pace the Wentworth Institute of Technology lacrosse team to its first win of the season, a 15-1 defeat of Nichols. The game was the Commonwealth Coast Conference opener for both teams.

Wentworth scored three times in the first frame, starting with a goal from Wood 1:45 into the game. Peterson scored the next two goals both from Wood with 8:44 and 1:48 left in the first period, respectively. The second period saw more of the same as senior attacker Eddie Saldana (Lynn, Mass.), junior midfielder Joe Marcel (Levittown, N.Y.), junior attacker Ryan McGovern (Marstons Mills, N.Y.), and Wood each scored goal, while senior midfielder T.J. Dahill (Hanover, Mass.) had two of his game-high four assists during the second stanza.

Leading 7-0 entering the third period, Wentworth accounted for six goals in the third period, with Peterson scoring twice and Wood, Marcel, sophomore midfielder Tim Lunt (Salem, Mass.), and McGovern scoring for the Leopards. A pair of junior attacker Michael Black (Lowell, Mass.) late in the fourth period gave Wentworth a 15-0 lead before the Bison got their lone goal of the game from junior midfielder Jimmy Ferola (Billerica, Mass.) with 40 seconds left to break the shutout.

Senior Rich Hamaty (Hingham, Mass.) needed to make just three saves in his 45:00 of work, before freshman Nick Murphy (Cohasset, Mass.) made a pair of saves in the fourth quarter. Nichols senior Brian Mason (Southampton, Mass.) made 20 saves and allowed 13 goals over the first 49:37 before giving way to freshman Chris Keating (Waltham, Mass.), who made one save over the final 10:23 .

Wentworth continues CCC action Wednesday (March 30) with a home contest against Gordon College at 6:00 p.m.
