|DOVER, De. - Wesley College (2-3) lost to non-conference opponent Denison University (3-1) by a final score of 12-5, in men's lacrosse action on Wednesday night at Wolverine Stadium. Denison jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after scoring 4 goals in the first 4:30 of the game. Wesley answered back as Jeff Montgomery (JR, Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) scored with 6:55 remaining in the first quarter.|
Justin Thompson (JR, Pasadena, MD/Northeast) answered for the Wolverines with 13:20 to play in the 2nd quarter to bring Wesley within 2 at 4-2. Montgomery then assisted a Brad Bivins (FR, Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) goal to put Wesley behind 4-3. Denison answered the Wesley run by scoring three unanswered goals to close the half, and go into halftime up 7-3. The Big Red then scored with 4:55 remaining in the third quarter to go up 8-3, and Denison goalkeeper Alex Baruch (JR, Richmond, VA) posted 4 saves in goal to help keep the Wesley attack at bay. The Big Red posted 3 straight goals to start the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach.
Bivins had 2 goals for the Wolverines, while Montgomery, Thompson, and Nick Pisacano (FR, Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) all had 1 goal apiece. Wesley will travel to Providence College on Saturday, March 17th to take on Mt. Ida College at 4:00 PM.
