Moran's Goal Lifts Wesley to 7-6 Win
DOVER, De. - Wesley College (2-0) defeated non-conference opponent Richard Stockton College (1-1) by a final score of 7-6, in men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Wolverine Stadium. Pete Moran (SR, Lindenhurst, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) scored the game-winning goal with 1:16 left in the game. Moran had 2 goals and 1 assist on the day. Joe Monroe (FR, Newton Square, PA/Marple Newton) and Mike DiFede (JR, Ridge, NY/Longwood) also added 2 goals apiece, with Monroe adding 7 groundballs and DiFede picking up an assist.
Wesley jumped out to an early 4-0 lead midway through the 2nd quarter, but the Ospreys scored two goals to pull within 4-2 before Wesley scored one more goal by Monroe to go up 5-2 at the half. Richard Stockton then pulled to within 1 (5-4) on a goal by Jeff Martin (SR, Lincoln Park, NJ/Boonton) with 12.7 seconds remaining in the third period. Wesley's Mike Dietrich (SR, Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg) scored with 13:07 left in the game to put Wesley up 6-4, but the Ospreys would score two unanswered goals to tie the score with 4:49 remaining, before Moran finished the game off for Wesley.
