| MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team held Bowdoin scoreless in the second half of a 6-3 win on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals (8-1) improve to 3-1 in NESCAC play, while Bowdoin (6-3, 3-1) drops their first conference game of the season. Bowdoin held a 3-2 lead at intermission, thanks to a pair of Tom McKinley first-quarter goals and a second-quarter tally from Ryan Hurd. But the Cardinals, behind stellar defensive play and goalkeeper Charlie Congleton, shut the Polar Bears down in the second period. Wesleyan notched two goals late in the third quarter to take the lead and added two more late scores in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Grayson Connors led Wesleyan with two goals. Congleton finished wth 12 saves for the Cardinals, while Charlie Legg stopped six shots for the Polar Bears. |
