| Westminster, MD --- Brown Sets All-Time Record in Green Terror Victory
Senior Tom Brown (Laurel MD/ Hammond) became the all time leading point score in Centennial Conference history scoring a goal with 10:53 remaining in the 4th quarter. Brown would total 2 goals in 4 assists in Western Maryland?s 12-6 victory over Dickinson. After the score was knotted at 1 after the first quarter, the Green Terror reeled off 5 unanswered goals in the second to take a 6-1-halftime lead. The game would never be in doubt from that point as WMC continued to show great scoring ability down the stretch. Goalkeeper Brian Nottingham (Baltimore MD/ Gilman) had a superb afternoon with 20 saves. He along with the penalty-killing defense held the Red Devils to 1 for 14 on man up opportunities. In addition to Brown?s efforts, WMC received outstanding offensive production from Jeremy Merson (New Windsor MD/ Francis Scott Key) and Joe Ellis (Columbia MD/ Oakland Mills). Merson tallied 3 goals and had an assist while Ellis blasted home 3 goals of his own. With Brown?s 6 points, he raises his career total to 261 points breaking the old mark set by Brian Bean of Haverford. Brown is now 4 goals away from breaking the Western Maryland all-time record and is 6 away from owning another conference mark. The 7-0 Green Terror will return to action on Saturday when the host Swarthmore. The game is set to start at 1:30. |
