| WESTMINSTER, MD - Western Maryland?s top attack line of Tom Brown, Joe Ellis, and Rob Weaver accounted
for 22 points in a convincing 19-8 non-conference win over Villa Julie.
Tom Brown (Laurel, MD / Hammond) scored five goals, including a shot with his back to the cage. Heavily defended, Brown shot across his body to the far side of the net to beat Pat Gill to stretch the Terror lead to 6-1. Western Maryland held a 3-2 lead at the end of the first quarter as Pat Carling (Kingsville, MD / Perry Hall) scored the first of his two goals in the game as the horn was sounding. Western Maryland would dominate from that point forward, outscoring the Mustangs 16-6 in the final three frames, including a 10 goal second quarter. Joe Ellis (Columbia, MD / Oakland Mills) scored a trio of goals, and assisted on six others, while freshman Rob Weaver (Laurel, MD / St. Vincent Palotti) scored three and tallied five assists. Nine different players registered a goal for Western Maryland. The win improves Western Maryland?s record to 10-1, while the Mustangs fall to 5-5. Western Maryland returns to action next Saturday, when they travel to Washington College for a 1pm Centennial Conference Showdown. |
