|SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Senior Marco Le Gette (Severna Park, MD) scored the
game winner with 5.2 seconds remaining to lead Western New England
College to a 9-8 victory over visiting Babson College in a semifinal
round game of the 2004 Pilgrim League Tournament.
Juniors CJ Annunciata (Waltham, MA) and Patrick Matthews (Middle Island, NY), and freshman Adam Cherry (Westfield, MA) each had two goals and an assist for the Golden Bears while sophomore Brett Searing (Skaneateles, NY) had the other two scores.
WNEC (11-7) trailed 5-1 after the first period and 5-4 half-time before Searing scored both of his goals in a 1:35 span early in the third quarter to put the Golden Bears ahead 6-5.
Babson sophomore Mike O'Connell (Dedham, MA) scored three goals, his last goal tying the contest with 1:22 remaining. Senior Tim Armenta (Kennebunk, ME) added two goals and an assist while senior Brian Collins (Needham, MA) contributed a goal and two assists.
Freshman Matt Pendelbury (North Hunterdon, NJ) made 11 saves for WNEC while junior Dave Frascogna (Orchard Park, NY) stopped 11 shots for Babson (7-7).
WNEC will play at Springfield in the Pilgrim League Tournament championship game at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (May 1).
