| SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ^× Freshman Michael McGeoghan (Feeding Hills, MA)
scored four goals with two assists and freshman Adam Cherry (Westfield,
MA) contributed three goals in their collegiate debuts as Western New
England College posted an easy 17-2 victory over visiting Daniel Webster
College in the season opener for both teams.
Junior Patrick Matthews (Middle Island, NY) and freshman Paul Weinecke (Baltimore, MD) each added two goals. Also scoring their first collegiate goals were junior CJ Annunciata (Waltham, MA), and freshmen Rob Ostrem (West Islip, NY), Devin Howton (Olney, MD), and Jason Whitehouse (Gilmanton, NH). Twelve players scored points for the Golden Bears who led 8-0 after the opening quarter and 12-0 at half-time. Senior Matt Hein (Londonderry, NH) and junior Matt Pietrowski (Edgewood, MD) scored for the Eagles. |
