SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Tim Santye (Skillman, NJ) scored six goals with an assist to lead second-seeded Western New England College to an easy 16-3 victory over seventh-seeded New England College in a quarterfinal round game of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Men’s Lacrosse Tournament Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 29).

The Golden Bears, ranked 17th nationally in the USILA Division III poll, will host the winner of the Salve Regina-Gordon contest (scheduled for tonight) in a semifinal round match up on Thursday (May 2).

Western New England College jumped to an 8-0 halftime lead and never looked back in raising its record to 11-4.

Freshman Joe O’Keefe (Branford, CT) netted two goals and dished out three assists while senior Travis Brown (Chapel Hill, NC) contributed two goals and an assist while winning seven-of-11 face-offs. Junior Scott Kukis (Sudbury, MA) also had a two-goal outing.

Juniors Jared Pabis (Wilbraham, MA) and Ian Franckling (South Glastonbury, CT) each picked-up seven and six ground balls, respectively.

Freshman goalie Ben Barlow (Newport, CT) played the first three quarters and compiled eight saves.

New England College tallied its first goal just 11 seconds into the third period on a man-up shot by sophomore Damian Carey (Medford, NY).

Senior Pat Mellilo (Wallingford, CT) and sophomore Colin Gordon (Manchester, MA) each added a goal and assist for the Pilgrims who finished their season with a 4-12 record.
