|The Game Story:|
|SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior attacker Patrick White (Milton, MA) gave through with the best performance of his career by scoring seven goals with two assists to lead top-seeded Western New England to a 15-6 victory over second-seeded Roger Williams in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men’s Lacrosse Championship title game Saturday (May 5).|
The Golden Bears, who improved their record 12-4, captured the conference crown for the first time since 2009 and earned an automatic invitation to the NCAA Division III Championship.
Western New England had a strong start taking a 2-0 lead on goals by White at 8:48 of the opening period and sophomore midfielder Sean Lawton (Abington, MA) just 1:12 later. The Hawks got on the board when junior attacker Drew Black (South Salem, NY) scored at the 6:18 mark.
White answered with his second goal 30 seconds later and senior midfielder Nick Jez (Somers, CT) scored at 2:17 for a 4-1 advantage. Sophomore midfielder John Ricciardi (Duxbury, MA) fired in a shot with 1:11 left in the period as the Hawks trailed 4-2 after the opening quarter.
White scored twice and Jez notched his second goal in the man-up situation in the second stanza to give the Golden Bears a 7-3 lead at intermission.
Sophomore long stick middie Jack Liacos (Beverly, MA) then made a terrific play by grabbing control of the ball in his own end and racing downfield to fire in a shot from about 20 yards out to extend the margin to 8-3 with 12:21 left in the third quarter. Junior attacker Corbett Corrigan Harreys (Essex, CT) followed with a goal at 8:32 for a six-goal advantage. Ricciardi again found the net at 6:13 to keep the visitors in the game at 9-4 with 6:13 remaining in the period.

Western New England, ranked 16th nationally, scored the final goal of the third period and netted the first five goals of the final stanza to break the game open.
Jez finished with three goals, Harreys contributed two scores, and junior attacker James Reardon (Longmeadow, MA) added a goal and assist. Senior midfielder Joe Martin (Springfield, MA) and freshman attacker George Knapp (Glens Falls, NY) each chipped-in with two assists. Martin also took 15-of-20 face-offs and picked-up seven ground balls. Senior goalie Brewster Knowlton (Somers, CT) compiled seven saves.
Ricciardi had a nice showing with three goals and a pair of ground balls. Senior attacker Dan Klink (Nashua, NH) and sophomore attacker Jon Nessa (Concord, MA) had the other goals. Freshman goalie Luke Aubrey (Norwalk, CT) also played well making 20 saves.
The Hawks fall to 10-6, but could be in contention to receive an invitation to the ECAC Division III New England Championship.
