| SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ^× Senior Paul Purdy (Brewster, NY) scored a career
high 10 points with seven goals and three assists to lead No. 9
Springfield College to a 20-12 victory over host Western New England
College in a battle of Pilgrim League divisional leaders.
Sophomore Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, RI) also had a big game with three goals and four assists while freshman goalie Kyle Cloutier (South Hadley, MA) made 22 saves as the Pride improved its record to 10-3 and 5-0 in the Pilgrim League East Division. With the score tied 6-6 at half-time, WNEC scored the first two goals of the third period (to cap a 5-0 run) for an 8-6 lead following a score by senior Marco Le Gette (Severna Park, MD) only 1:51 into the period. Springfield then rattled off six unanswered goals in a 4:51 span, including three by Purdy, to break the contest open. Le Gette finished with four goals for the Golden Bears while junior Pat Matthews (Middle Island, NY) enjoyed a career night with four goals and four assists. Junior CJ Annunciata (Waltham, MA) chipped-in with two goals and an assist while freshman Adam Cherry (Westfield, MA) had two goals. |
