| SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ~W Senior C.J. Annunciata (Waltham, MA) had a goal and four assists, and sophomore Adam Cherry (Westfield, MA) contributed four goals to lead Western New England College to a 13-3 victory over Wheaton College in the Pilgrim League opener for both teams. Junior Joe Cassani (Barre, VT) chipped-in with three goals while senior Patrick Matthews (Middle Island, NY) scored twice for the Golden Bears (4-2) who snapped a two-game losing streak. Freshman Chris Body (Newtown, CT) finished with 12 saves. Sophomore Trey Helms (Cockeysville, MD) gave Wheaton an early 1-0 lead at the 11:11 mark of the opening period. WNEC came back for a 2-1 advantage after the first period and 7-1 lead at half-time. The Golden Bears' defense held the Lyons scoreless for 27:57 from the first through third periods. Junior Ellie Reavey (Longmeadow, MA) had two goals for the Lyons (1-3). |
