| Mar. 27 (vs. Drew) Seven-Goal First Quarter Helps Men's Lacrosse Post 19-12 Victory Over Drew (boxscore) 3/27/07 -- Brian Stromko (Maplewood, NJ) scored five goals and fellow junior Chris Matthews (Drexel Hill, PA) added four for Widener, which snapped a three-game skid with a 19-12 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over Drew at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium. Widener (3-3, 1-2 MAC) raced to a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and was never headed. Junior Luke Weber (Lititz, PA) scored twice in that span with Stromko adding a goal and two assists. Stromko netted a pair in the second quarter with Weber and Matthews contributing one apiece as the Pride owned a comfortable 11-7 halftime cushion. Weber ended with three goals for Widener, which posted a decided 46-31 shots edge. Matthews, junior Clint Quedenfeld (Chalfont, PA) and freshman Chris Poston (Springfield, NH) each had two assists and senior Andrew Johnson (Wallingford, PA) made eight saves. Sean McNulty and Tom Stitt each recorded a hat trick and Jon Bucknam dished three assists for the Rangers (2-4, 1-2). Michael Celentano had six saves. Widener on Saturday opens a three-game road trip at Susquehanna, beginning at 1:00 pm. |
