The Game Story:
4/12/06 -- Sophomore Brian Stromko (Maplewood, NJ) notched a hat trick in the first half and senior Dennis Mann (Havertown, PA) also scored three goals for Widener, winners of four straight with a 17-2 Middle Atlantic Conference triumph over FDU-Florham at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

Widener (7-4, 6-1 MAC), which held FDU scoreless in the opening half, scored four times in the opening quarter. Senior Todd Fairlie (Broomall, PA), the reigning conference Player of the Week who leads the team with 51 points, tallied 13 seconds in the game.

Stromko scored three times in the second quarter for the Pioneers, who opened a 13-0 cushion late in the third quarter. This helped Widener own a 52-19 shots edge, including 32-4 in the first half, and a 34-21 ground balls advantage. The Pioneers also were 4-for-7 with the man advantage.

Freshman Cullen Burke (Drexel Hill, PA), sophomore Luke Weber (Lititz, PA) and senior Alan Krawitz (Havertown, PA) all scored twice and Fairlie dished three assists. Weber was 12-of-14 on face-offs, helping the Pioneers go 16-of-22, and had six ground balls along with junior Darnell Jones (Severn, MD).

Andrew Johnson (Wallingford, PA) made three saves for the victory and fellow junior Mike Cozza (Ridgewood, NJ) added five.

Scott Shadiack scored twice and Peter Fleming dished an assist for the Devils (4-5, 4-3). Bob Moseman made 12 saves.

Widener steps out of conference next Wednesday to host No. 8 Stevens, beginning at 4:00 pm.
