| Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team fell to 0-4 overall today with a 14-10 loss against Oswego State (2-0) in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams were up 7-6 at halftime, but the Lakers scored eight goals in the final two periods while holding Farmingdale to just three goals. Junior John Schumacher (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas) led Oswego with four points on three goals and one assist. The Rams opened the first with two quick goals from freshman Jon Trama (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) and sophomore Sean Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) for a 2-0 advantage. Both teams would trade off the next 11 goals, with the Rams holding the edge at the half, 7-6. Oswego scored three in the first five minutes of the third period to take a 10-7 lead. Maxwell added his second of the day late in the third to make it 10-8, but the Lakers scored the next four and would hold on for their second win of the season. Junior Joe Meola (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) led the Rams with six points (two goals, four assists) along with a team-high nine ground balls. Trama, Maxwell and senior Ryan LaFlare (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) each finished with two goals. LaFlare also picked up nine ground balls. Senior goalkeeper Kevin Winters (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) made 14 saves in defeat. Oswego's junior goalkeeper Matt Pfister (Patchogue, N.Y/Patchogue-Medford) made 17 saves. Junior Ryan Rossborough (Conesus, N.Y./Livonia) had a hat trick with three goals. Farmingdale will continue play this Saturday, March 17th in a St. Patrick's Day game against Lasell College at 1:00 p.m. in Auburndale, Mass. |
