| Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State fell to #14 Wesleyan University, 16-7, today in a non-conference men's lacrosse game in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams held the Cardinals to six goals over the final two periods, but could not overcome the 10-3 halftime deficit. Wesleyan scored the first three goals, before freshman attackman Erick Thomson (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) netted his first of two goals off an assist from freshman attacker Gerald Trovato (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford). The Cardinals went on to score seven consecutive goals and held a 10-3 lead at the half, and added six more for the 16-7 win. Wesleyan was led by senior attacker Jason Ben-Eliyahu (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) with six goals and one assist. Senior attacker Russ Follansbee (Deerfield, Mass./Deerfield Acad.) scored four goals and three assists. Senior goalkeeper Mike Borrero (Bayport, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) made two saves for the win. Farmingdale State sophomore midfielder Joe Stroessenreuther (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) finished with three goals, while Thomson had two goals and one assist. Senior attacker Sean Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) had one goal and two assists, and senior midfielder Mike Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) scored one goal and one assist. Senior goalkeeper Teddy Leone (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) made 12 saves in 37 minutes played. The Rams now host Cobleskill on Saturday, March 21st at 1:00 p.m. |
