| Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team improved to 3-8, 1-3 in the Skyline with a 16-5 victory as they overpowered the College of Mount Saint Vincent (2-9, 0-3) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. Seniors Joe Meola (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point), Jay Berndt (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster), Nate Larrea (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow), James Vaz (Hicksville, N.Y./Holy Trinity) and Michael Butler, Jr. (Bronx, N.Y./Springfield Gardens) played in their final home game today for the Rams. Farmingdale State held a 3-2 lead after the first quarter with goals Joe Meola, sophomore midfielder Chris Tenny (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) and freshman attacker Eddie Rifice (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) before opening up for an 8-2 halftime lead with five goals as they shut out the Dolphins in the second quarter. In the third and fourth periods, the Rams outscored Mount Saint Vincent 8-3 to roll to the 16-5 win. Farmingdale State picked up 63 ground balls today to the Dolphins' 27. Freshman attacker Joey Stroessenreuther (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) and Rifice both finished the day with four goals each. Meola had two goals, three assists and five ground balls. Junior attacker Sean Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) had three goals, two assists and six ground balls. Larrea finished with a game-high 10 ground balls. Junior goalkeeper Teddy Leone (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) made six saves for the win. The Rams will play next at Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J. on Wednesday, April 23rd at 4:00 p.m. |
