The Game Story:
Turnovers cost the Misericordia University menís lacrosse team as they fell 13-3 to Widener, Saturday at Anderson Field.

The Pride turned the ball over just twice all game, while the Cougars lost possession 25 times.

Freshman Kyle Calabro led MU with a goal and an assist. Lee Blair and J.R. Lauri each scored, with Pat McTague and Matt Gonzalez adding an assist each.

MU performed well on faceoffs, winning 12-of-20 for the game. Dennis Runkowski (6-10), Joe Lodato (4-7) and Buckley (2-3) were all over 50% in the category.

Possession was even throughout the first half, with MU actually holding a 13-11 advantage in shots. But the Cougars struggled to find the goal and trailed 6-1 at the break.

With the Pride leading 2-0 early, Blair was slashed as he cut past his man but still managed to score. However, Widener answered with a short-handed goal on the ensuing man-advantage.

Misericordia had another man-advantage early in the second quarter after a Widener cross-check, but couldnít capitalize.

The Cougars were on the attack in the third quarter, trying to pull themselves back into the game. Blair had an open shot that was nicely saved by the Widener goalie, and Gonzalez was also saved on another MU man-advantage.

With under three minutes left in the third quarter, the Pride scored and then took the face-off right down for another goal. The two scores in a seven second period put Widener up 9-1 and effectively locked up the game.

The Pride were led by Steve Cull (four goals) and Cory Malampy (two goals, two assists). Bobby Schluter played well in goal, making 11 saves.

Misericordia is now 3-9, 1-6 on the season and will travel to Manhattanville on Wednesday.
