| The Game Story: | |||||
| Junior Matt Andon-McLane (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) scored three goals, including two in the first half as The College at Brockport Men’s Lacrosse team built an early lead and posted a 7-2 victory over Keuka College Wednesday afternoon on Bob Boozer Field at Special Olympics Stadium in Brockport. The victory was the fourth straight for the Golden Eagles who improved to 6-1 on the season. Brockport opened the scoring early as senior Brian Loeffler (Islip, NY/Islip) score 13 seconds into the contest as he picked up the ground ball off the face off and raced in on the goal firing a shot into the back of the cage for the early lead. One minutes later, Andon-McLane scored his first goal of the game off a pass from senior Adam Drypolcher (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) for a 2-0 Brockport lead. With 10 minutes left in the opening quarter, sophomore Mike McSweeney (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) moved from behind the cage to a sharp angle and fired a shot past the Keuka (1-5) goalie for a 3-0 lead. In the second quarter, Andon-McLane added his second goal and junior Andy Hilton (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) scored two minutes later for a 5-0 Golden Eagles lead which held until halftime. In the third quarter, Keuka scored twice to cut the lead to 5-2 but the Golden Eagles answered with two more goals in the final quarter, including the third of the day by Andon-McLane, for the final score. Keuka’s goals came from Gino Marcello (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and junior Jamie Conway (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa). Junior goalie Kyle Crosley (Clinton, NY/Homer) made 16 saves and won for the sixth time this season breaking the school record for goalie wins in a season. The previous record was five victories set by Garet Alwes who won five games in 2008 and again in 2009. |
