| BROCKPORT, NY-- The SUNY Brockport fell to Plattsburgh in the final seconds of a men's lacrosse conference game, 6-5. The Golden Eagles fall to 4-6 overall and 1-4 in the SUNYAC, while the Cardinals improve to 6-4 on the season and 2-2 in the conference. Plattsburgh opened the scoring at 8:46 with a goal from Jordan Thompson (Hogansburg, NY) who was assisted by Kenny Pierson (Brewster, NY), but Bobby Magrin (Fairport/Fairport) tallied two consecutive goals to take a 2-1 lead. Bill Schmitt (Garrison, NY) scored unassisted to answer Magrin's second goal and Chris Clemenson (Ovid/DeSales) scored the next goal at 2:27 in the second to take a 3-2 lead. Jared McLaughlin (Fairport/Fairport) tallied the first goal of the third quarter to break open a two goal lead, but Schmit and Thompson answered with two goals of their own to tie it 4-4. Magrin assisted on Anthony Ventresca (Syracuse/Henninger)'s goal at 10:03 in the fourth to take a 5-4 lead, but the Cardinals tied it again with four minutes remaining. With under :30, Adam Lockley (Manlius, NY), with the assist from Schmit, scored the game winner. Matt Staalesen (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) played 45:00 in the nets with 12 saves, while Logan Gaffney (Lancaster/Lancaster) made five saves in 15:00. Billy Hughes (East Patchogue,NY) went the distance in the nets making nine saves. Brockport will play at Medaille on Wednesday at 4 p.m. |
