The Game Story:
Ursinus rolls past Washington & Jefferson, 21-7



COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Pat Nagle (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) and Mike Stein (Springfield, PA/Springfield) each scored three goals to lead Ursinus past Washington & Jefferson 21-7 in non-conference men’s lacrosse action on Saturday.

Nagle and Stein tallied their first goals of the season, while Anthony Tori (Springfield, PA/Springfield) led the Bears (2-0) for the second consecutive game in points with five for the home-opener victory.

Dane Mangin (Willow Grove, PA/Archbishop Wood), making his first appearance this season, added two goals and two assists, while Matt Orlando (Morton, PA/Springfield) made five stops en route to his second win in the net.

The Presidents’ (0-1) Tim Huckestein tallied a team-high three points on two goals and one assist.

Sixteen different players with a hand in the scoring to help Ursinus collect 13 first-half goals and added eight more in the second half to start the season with two straight wins.

In similar fashion to their first game of the season, the Bears opened put up the first four goals on the scoreboard. Mangin and Orlando tallied the first two goals, before Nagle and Mike Tori (Springfield, PA/Springfield) each scored an extra-man goal within a minute of each other.

Zach Devilbiss got the Presidents first goal at the 8:38 mark, but Ursinus scored the next six for a 9-1 lead with just eight seconds gone in the second quarter. Stein recorded two goals in just 16 seconds during that stretch off feeds from Jason Orlando (Morton, PA/Springfield) and Jason Patterson (West Chester, PA/Unionville).

The Bears used a 5-0 run and a 7-0 run over the next three quarters with A. Tori and Eric Farris (Pottsgrove, PA/Pottsgrove) finding the back of the net twice, while Nagle completed his hat trick.

Harrison Hickock (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) also tallied his first collegiate goal and assist on the afternoon.

Tony Aquilino (Abington, PA/Archbishop Wood) played the second half in the goal for the Bears, making six saves.

Ursinus held a 45-28 shot advantage, but the Presidents held a 21-9 edge in face-offs.

The Bears return to action on Wednesday against Whittier in San Diego, CA. Game time is 8 p.m.
