Elizabethtown vs. Oneonta State

The Game Story:
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown fell 9-5 to SUNY-Oneonta in a non-conference home game Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Blue Jays to 0-6 overall, while SUNY-Oneonta improves to 5-2 with the win.

Elizabethtown held a 34-30 advantage in shots and a 35-34 edge in ground balls over the course of the game, but SUNY-Oneonta goaltender Brian Tricoles (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) made 17 saves to halt Etown’s attack.

The visiting Red Dragons held a 3-1 lead by halftime, but Elizabethtown tied the score at 4-4 with 5:25 left in the third quarter when Reid Allison (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) scored off a Frankie Puzzangara (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) assist. Oneonta added one more goal in the third quarter and out-scored the Blue Jays 4-1 in the fourth to seal the win.

Matt Seiboth (Havertown, PA/Haverford) led Etown in goals scored with two, and Tom Welch (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) added one goal. Puzzangara finished the game with one goal and one assist, and he tied for the team lead in ground balls with five. Defenseman Frank Cacia (Newark, DE/Tatnall School) also had five ground balls for the Blue Jays. Etown goaltender Chris Schuch (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) finished the game with 12 saves and two ground balls.

Three Red Dragons – Matt Harvey (Bayshore, NY/Islip), Tyler Dunne (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) and Mike Evans (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) – finished the game with two goals, and Evans had four ground balls. Mike Schanz (Endwell, NY/Maine Endwell) scored one goal and had two assists, and Chris Hatzakorzian (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport) scored once and assisted another goal. Pete Glass (Hurley, NY/Kingston) notched one assist for SUNY-Oneonta. Greg VanRemmen (Lakeview, NY/St. Francis) led the Red Dragons in ground balls with 5.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Wednesday, March 29 against King’s College (Pa.) in a 4:00 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference contest.
